Introduction to Exercise Science & Physical Education

small picture of instructorThis project was supported by grant monies from the ASU College of Liberal Arts, and was designed to facilitate and standardize the distribution of undergraduate course requirements in Exercise and Sports Science throughout state community colleges. We worked with Professor Charles B. Corbin, of Exercise and Sports Science in the production of video and presentation graphics materials to be utilized in this ASU, Community Colleges Bridge Project.

(Behind-the-Scenes, prodcution process)

A total of 15 Introduction to Exercise Science & Physical Education course lectures were videotaped with accompanying presentation graphics, and an additional set of 30 presentation graphics packages which support the remaining lectures of this course were also produced. These multimedia materials (videotape and CD-ROM), in addition to printed manuals and course content, have been distributed to participating community colleges, where they are to be utilized throughout the semester long course.

This project involved the efforts of nearly a dozen faculty members from the Department of Exercise Science and Physical Education at ASU, several instructors from the Maricopa Community College District, and the technical staff of Information Technology, Instruction Support at ASU. All of the individual faculty members worked closely together in authoring the content and materials used in the course. The staff of Instruction Support worked extensively to standardize and modify these materials in order to achieve the highest quality when incorporated into the various multimedia technologies used in this course, which primarily include; videotape and CD-ROM presentation tools.

This exciting project and stands as an example of the success that can be achieved through the cooperative efforts of university and community college faculty and technical staff.
