Goals and Approach

The underlying goal of all media produced by the Digital Media Studio is to enhance learning, teaching, and research at ASU and throughout the university community. In pursuit of these goals the Digital Media Studio actively engages in research, adoption, application, and development of new and emerging relevant digital media.

Video Programming

Central to the production efforts of the Digital Media Studio is video programming, and much of the work produced within DMS is driven by this core function. The video activities of DMS include a full range of programming and production from research based documentary creation to live event multi-camera production of university premiere and special events for Internet and cable broadcast, to instructional programming integrated in multi-mode course delivery (traditional, distributed, and hybrid), and more.

New Media

In addition to the core focus of video programming, the Digital Media Studio also actively engages in and supports new and emerging media associated with applications in Instructional Technology. Current emphasis includes interactive instructional technology; collaborative content creation and delivery methods, integration of audio and video-on-demand content; webcasting and podcasting; as well as interactive media programming and DVD authoring.

Media Training and Certification

The expertise of the Digital Media Studio staff is also actively engaged in fostering the growth and development of digital media production throughout the university by a wide variety of faculty and staff from various colleges and departments, as well as other institutions associated with the broader ASU Community (i.e., K-12 schools and affiliates). Through partnerships, large and small scale workshops, formalized certification programs, and other ongoing project-based relationships, the Digital Media Studio works to further the application of digital media into teaching, learning, and research at many levels within higher education and beyond.
